I have been studying Indian/Native American resistence in the my class and I can really find alot of similarities between the Idian/Native American people and the Na’vai. Overall I thought Avatar was really good. And I’m not gonna lie saying that it was the best movie I have ever seen in theaters. Though I’m only 14 thats still pretty remarkable in my opninion.

“Avatar wasn`t very original, and the movie was too predictable. and it didint have any balls to try something new. I expected more from james cameron`s writing capabilities, but I thought the movie was ok, not a life changing experience like he promised but it was ok. I also think that Avatar is way overrated.”

I agree with this comment. Thumbs up from me at least.

Fail troll is obvious…

You’re much too liberal with the words “gay”, makes you too obvious. Mix it up a little, you’ll learn how to troll eventually.

i’m glad it’s actually successful. This is a beacon of hope for good movies.

kingVoklee February 7, 2010 at 4:32 am

well you have to be happy with the money it made….but tbh every movie lover has to be. we want more original movies.

I agree pedrofagim. It was ok. As I said on another post I did not leave the movie thinking I wasted 9 bucks. I thought it was dry at times and was looking at my 10yr old to make sure he was not bored. I would recommend it based on the lousy movies to choose from, but I don’t see all the hipe. The lord of the rings was way better and I find myself to this day being drawn into that movie when it is on tv.

hmm you say not very original? but maybe you forgot that this story has already been alive for like 12 years but cameron just couldnt make it without the right technology so i think its still the best movie ever created so far

It is better than Any other movies (LOTR Dark Knight Harry Potter POTC). It is truly original story. Some people think it is copy of Dances with Wolf.Dances with Wolf was the firs idea of someone who love outside of that culture or country want to be one of them and live like them.Avatar is the best movie ever.Avatar proved that Made 1 billion dollar in 17 days. And there are more than 10 million fans of Avatar.Only big movies or comics like Star Wars, Lord of the Ring have 10 million fans.

True Lies is a remake of a French film.

avatar is so gay. i never saw a movie with so much gayness. its like that planet was full of nothing but penises and tampons. if you like this movie you must be as gay as it.

@09tranm
it is the second highest grossing film worldwide.
First being James Cameron’s Titanic

The first time I tried to see Avatar, it was totally sold out! And I had wanted to see this movie twice in order to support it. Well, looks like there’s no need for that.

baluvxaluv February 7, 2010 at 10:12 am

IT’S ORIGINAL

dances with smurfs anyone?
don’t worry I already saw it

Cri354 February 7, 2010 at 11:03 am

I dont know about u folks but i didn’t realy liked this movie..yeah sure the effects where outstanding and all that..but the plot was just predictable and booring..

TELMEman February 7, 2010 at 11:54 am

Wow A BILLION DOLLARS? In 17 days? Holy crapazoli! I think the movie future is as bright as a new lightbulb! That is, if Hollywood realizes that it’s the originality that made it great.

09tranm February 7, 2010 at 12:28 pm

It’s opening weekend didn’t even make 100 million dollars in the US. But no need to fear the movie has made over 1 Billion dollars world wide. Does it deserve to gross more than The Dark Knight, and The Return of the King in my opinion no. However I’m glad it’s a major hit and it is a great movie(just not better than return of the king or the dark knight).

dra900nka1n February 7, 2010 at 12:33 pm

I’ve been trying to find a good time to see it.

The only problem I see is that instead of HWood thinking to make more creative movies, they’ll just make more crappy ones resembling this, with blue people fighting for their world.

Here’s how the list of highest-grossing films looks as of Jan 6, 2009

Titanic – $1,848,879,955
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King – $1,119,110,941
Avatar – $1,098,736,685

Titanic ran for 10 months, so far Avatar’s is third all time after just 19 DAYS!! I don’t think there’s any question that pretty soon James Cameron will have the 1st and 2nd highest grossing films.

aliensmilez February 7, 2010 at 2:18 pm

or “we need to use this bad-ass new 3D technology more!”

aliensmilez February 7, 2010 at 2:25 pm

original as in no preexisting fan base. yeah its similar to dances w/ wolves and even Pocahontas, but its not like twilight, transformers 2, or even the dark knight(although it was a BAMF awesome movie). theres no avatar book, its not a sequel, not based on a TV show, its not a remake, etc

aliensmilez February 7, 2010 at 3:04 pm

current gross as of jan 5 2010 according to boxofficemojo – $1,063,151,759(360m ov which is domestic)

titanic opened 1 day later (dec 19) and by jan 6 had made only 163m domestic(less than 1/2 of what avatar has made)

by the time titanic left theaters in OCTOBER 98 it had made over 600m domestic! yet at this corresponding date it had made 1/2 of avatar?

we can only hope this trend will continue, but this movie is already among the great. it has thus far only been out grossed by 3 other movies

RogerRabid February 7, 2010 at 3:22 pm

1 billion…….in 17 days, face it, youre superhuman. Your message practically alered reality and gave this movie everything you asked for, in 17 days! I loved this movie but I NEVER thought it would stand a chance against the dark knight! Im intrigued as to how this will affect hollywood
