I usually use Torrents (isohunt,mininova.com)
since you dont want torrents, i think you might wanna download files uploaded to servers (rapishare,megaupload,etc). Go to http://www.phazeddl.com and search for it, (they recently changd their interface, its a bit different now)
*the files are usually in parts and in .rar format, which mean you will ned Winrar or some other program which extracts .rar files. (the video formats are usually .avi and i suggest you get a codec pack (its free))
